Morgan wins CM735 Canadian Combat Helmet Contract Extension
The Composites and Defence Systems business of Morgan Advanced Materials has been awarded the first year contract amendment for the CM735 Combat Helmet by Canada’s Department of National Defence. The contract amendment will see Morgan deliver additional helmets on top of the original production contract in the autumn of 2015.
The CM735 combat helmet utilises Morgan’s world leading hybrid composite shell technology to deliver outstanding ballistic and fragment protection at an extraordinarily low weight. The CM735 helmet shell delivers improved ballistic protection with weight savings of approximately 23 percent over the previous CG634 shell, with a weight of less than 920 grams (32 ounces).
James Kempston, Business Development Director at Morgan’s Composites and Defence Systems business stated “Morgan is honoured to continue delivering ballistic helmets to the Canadian Army through the first year contract extension. This extends to our high end product offerings being sold into the Canadian Military and Law enforcement agencies which includes helmets, rifle plates and personal shields.”
As well as bespoke customer specific contracts, Morgan manufactures a range of readily available full and high cut helmets as part of its Lightweight Armoured Soldier Architecture (LASA®) portfolio. The LASA AC914 and LASA 915 deliver Morgan’s highest ballistic performance, whereas the LASA AC912 and LASA AC913 are Morgan’s lightest helmets.
